Around 80 cyclists from Sarajevo, Zavidovici, Zenica, Visoko, Tesanj, Bihac, Cazin, Bosanska Krupa and Zagreb took part on the second “Tour de Culture BiH“ on 24th of September, as an unique event that aims at promotion of valuable cultural, historical and natural heritage of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
For the second year in a row, the event is organised by the Foundation Cultural Heritage without Borders – CHwB Bosnia and Herzegovina, a non-governmental organisation committed to the preservation, protection and promotion of cultural heritage. “Tour de Culture BiH“ is in 2016 supported by the Embassy of Switzerland in BiH.

“Organising this event, we want to showcase to the participants the rich heritage from different parts of BiH, and to present them food, folklore, customs and other traditions of the region they are visiting. In every part of our country, one can find rich cultural wealth we all should get acquainted with, so we would be treasuring and protecting it”, stated Aida Vezic, Deputy Head of Office of CHwB.
“Tour de Culture BiH“ also promotes the importance of non-motorised vehicles and the protection of natural environment, as well as marking of the European Heritage Days and the European week of mobility in 2016.
In this one-day event, the participants have visited old towns Pset and Ostrozac in Bosanska Krupa and Cazin, The Museum of Una-Sana Canton and Captain’s tower in Bihac. Participants have enjoyed in cultural and artistic programme on different historical sites and had the opportunity to taste traditional cuisine of this region of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
«As the second year participant I have only good words to say about the organisation of this event. After visiting Herzegovina, this year we went to Krajina, a region that we do not go to see so often, and where local people are great hosts and friends. Every segment of this event, specially visits to cultural-historical and natural sites, was perfect », stated participant Nudzejma Softic.
The first “Tour de Culture BiH“ has been organised in May 2015 in the Herzegovina region.
“Tour de Culture BiH“ is part of the CHwB’s initiative “Make it Yours!” that is realised through different activities that aim at raising awareness about the importance of joint cultural heritage.
This year’s “Tour de Culture BiH“ is organised with the participation of the Recreational Cycling Club “Japod“ from Bihaća and the tourist agency “Visit Konjic“ from Konjic. Cazin municipality has also supported the event. Media sponsors are: Faktor, Coolbaština and Una-Sana news.
