Cultural Heritage without Borders encourages you to apply to attend the regional seminar entitled “Past Stories and Future Memories” to be held between October 28 – 30, 2013 in Prizren, Kosovo.
Stories bring places alive and make them relevant to people in contemporary settings, but many stories get buried or lost. Participants will focus around uncovering and reclaiming stories related to heritage sites – their past use and their future potential – through lectures, presentations and the discussions.
This seminar will be of interest to practitioners and academics engaged in heritage practice, audience development and programming. It will consider both strategic and practical approaches designed to connecting people to their heritage and to those of others, with a particular focus on:
- Approaches for working with stories and narratives through interpretation
- Role of museums and heritage in human rights
- Hidden and buried heritage
The seminar will also explore and discuss several case studies from the region and beyond.
The event is organized as a part of the regional project “The Western Balkans – From Historical Integration to Contemporary Active Participation”. The main objective is to use cultural heritage as a platform for professionals, both men and women, to meet and create conditions for reconciliation as a prerequisite for peace and democracy with respect to human rights, as well as to stimulate local economic growth through cultural heritage being developed into an income-generating activity. It is implemented by the foundation Cultural Heritage without Borders in partnership with Co-Plan (from Albania) and Mozaik Foundation (from Bosnia and Herzegovina). The project is funded by the European Commission under the contract number 2011/277-768.
Before applying , please be aware that English will be the working language during the seminar and that the number of participants is limited to 20. Therefore we strongly recommend that you register by October 14. Please send your requests and/or enquiries to the following addresses:
