We are undergoing a revolution in communications. Information about our environment is immediately accessible – and expected. Tablet computers, Wi-Fi and cellular smartphones have converged and have allowed us to understand history and our surroundings as never before possible. However the data available on these devices must be gathered, selected, processed and then presented. We chose a unique methodology for developing the content for the smartphone application and started within the community in Stolac. In the twelve months of the project implementation (November 1, 2012 – 31, October 31, 2013) innovative, multidimensional, digital model was developed as augmented reality application that is used on all digital device. The model is used for promotion of vast cultural and natural heritage of Stolac, and for teaching and creating a better understanding of the rehabilitated image of stolac. Through nine educational activities, the project has increased the capacity in conservation/restoration and cultural understanding of shared cultural heritage. Different target groups have engaged in mapping, imaging and viewing similar cultural heritage examples in the wider region of Stolac and this has encouraged creative thinking and participation in utilising the potential for wider social-economic development. Through educational workshops, primarily restoration camp, a network of young professionals from all the parts of BiH and the region, has been created. The project has enabled networking among tour operators and local actors in Stolac and Herzegovina region and encouraged new generations to be promoters and guardians of cultural heritage. Stolac has been intensely promoted in the media and among professionals of cultural heritage restoration and preservation from the whole region.
